We fire our oven with New Zealand manuka wood — extreme heat, a stone base, and that distinctive manuka smoke. It's what gives our pizza its crisp, charred, traditional crust.
The oven fires up at 11am. From the classic Margherita to Lebanese manoucheh and our fan-favourite Seafood, everything comes out of the same fire.
There's plenty of room to settle in — a cosy seating area upstairs, and tables outside when you're after a bit of sun. Good for a long lunch, a catch-up with friends, or a quiet coffee. Give us a call on 04 387 8888 to book a table.

About us
A cafe in the heart of Kilbirnie
Plaza Pizzeria was founded in 2009 by Nicolas Haidamous. Inspired by his love of Mediterranean pizza and his dream of bringing the Lebanese culinary experience to the suburbs of Wellington.
Nicolas was known for his witty and proud personality, cheeky smile and willingness to share a joke at any given moment. He was always up for a conversation with anyone he'd meet.
Today Buba Cafe is a heartfelt tribute to Nicolas, who affectionately nicknamed his partner Anita 'Buba' — short for habuba, which in Arabic means 'Darling'. We renamed it to honour his memory and continue the legacy and tradition he left behind. Every pizza is made with love, just how Nicolas liked it.
